Polycomb complex protein BMI-1 is a component of the Polycomb group (PcG) multiprotein PRC1 complex that maintains the transcriptionally repressive state of many genes, including Hox genes throughout development. PcG PRC1 complex forms Polycomb bodies that act via chromatin remodeling and histone modification. BMI-1 cooperates with Myc oncogene to produce B-lymphomas.The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200185 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human Bmi1. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
