DNA mismatch repair protein Msh2 (MSH2) is a component of the post-replicative DNA mismatch repair system (MMR). MSH2 forms two different heterodimers: MutS alpha (MSH2-MSH6 heterodimer) and MutS beta (MSH2-MSH3 heterodimer) that bind to DNA mismatches and initiate DNA repair. Defects in MSH2 are the cause of hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer type 1 and endometrial cancers.The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200166 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human MSH2. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
