Folliculin (FLCN) plays a role in the pathogenesis of an uncommon form of kidney cancer through its association with an inherited disorder of the hair follicle (fibrofolliculoma). Defects in FLCN are the cause of Birt-Hogg-Dube syndrome (fibrofolliculoma) and primary spontaneous pneumothorax (lung collapse).The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200154 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human folliculin. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
