VHL is involved in the ubiquitination and subsequent proteasomal degradation of hydroxylated hypoxia-inducible factor (HIF) under normoxic conditions. Defects in VHL are the cause of different types of cancers (pheochromocytoma, von Hippel-Lindau disease) and erythrocytosis.The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 200142 is selected from a sequence within the C-term region of human VHL. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
