Xenin is a peptide derived from the alpha-coat protein (alpha-COP) after processing. It binds to the neurotensin receptor in the gut and also stimulates exocrine pancreatic secretion. Xenin inhibits pentagastrin-stimulated secretion of acid, to induce exocrine pancreatic secretion and to affect small and large intestinal motility.
