Myelin-oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG) is a minor component of the myelin sheath. MOG is also a CNS-specific autoantigen for primary demyelination in multiple sclerosis. The developmentally late expression of MOG correlates with the later stages of myelogenesis, suggesting that MOG has a role in the completion, compaction and maintenance of myelin. MOG has many isoforms that can form homo- and heterodimers.
