TGF-beta receptor type II (TGFR2) forms a heteromeric complex with TGFR1 after binding TGF-beta at the cell surface and activates TGFR2 by phosphorylation, subsequently binding and activation of the SMAD transcriptional regulators. Defects in TGFR2 are a cause of hereditary non-polyposis colorectal cancer type 6 (HNPCC6), esophageal cancer, and Loeys-Dietz syndromes (aortic aneurism syndrome).The synthetic peptide used to raise the antibody Cat. No. 250880 is selected from a sequence within the N-term region of human TGFR2. For blocking experiments, a 10 to 100 fold molar excess to antibody is recommended.
